Wanda greatly values its people. The group's headcount now stands at 156,000. All members of management have a bachelor's degree or higher, with over 50% holding either a master's degree or doctorate. The average age of management staff is 39. Wanda Group is China's top job creator for several consecutive years. It provied 203,000 service jobs in 2016, accounting for 1.5% of the national new employment opportunities of the year; and among them, 85,000 jobs were for college students.
Wanda unveiled a 10-year plan to support college entrepreneurship. As a part of this plan, Wanda pledged to contribute 50 million yuan each year to serve as startup capital for 100 graduating seniors, and open 50 retail outlets to startups at chosen Wanda Plazas across China from 2013 to 2020.
Wanda Group donated 1.4 billion yuan to aid Danzhai County in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, to create the targeted property alleviation model of “one enterprise responsible for the overall poverty alleviation of a county”. The goal is to help all the impoverished people in the county get out of poverty through the construction of vocational colleges and tourism towns and the establishment of poverty alleviation funds for the benefits of the local farmers. Wanda Group won China’s first Poverty Alleviation and Innovation award issued by the State Council in 2016.
Wanda Group’s mission is “Creating Common Prosperity Through Serving the Community”. Over the past 29 years, Wanda group has accumulatively donated 5.45 billion yuan in cash to numerous charitable causes, making it one of the country’s largest private donors.
Wanda Group is one of China’s earliest adopters of sustainable building practices and gets the most national green-building certificates. In 2016, 89 Wanda projects obtained the green-building design logo, 25 Wanda Plazas obtained the green-building operation logo and 15 Wanda hotels obtained the green-hotel logo. Wanda Group has accumulatively been awarded a total of 488 national green-building certificates, including 340 green-building design logos, 91 green-building operation logos and 57 green-hotel logos.
