Forging A New Cultural Tourism Brand Along the Belt and Road08.11.2018
On November 8, Lanzhou municipal government and Wanda Group signed an agreement in Beijing. It is announced that a Wanda City will be built in Lanzhou. The two sides will jointly build a new cultural tourism destination. Mr. Zhang Weiwen, Mayor of Lanzhou, and Mr. Wang Jianlin, Chairman of Wanda Group, attended the signing ceremony.
The Lanzhou Wanda City will cover an area of 1,300 mu, with a total investment of nearly 30 billion yuan. The project will include a Wanda Mall, a hotel and resort complex, a sightseeing tower, a bar street, a tourist center and a range of other facilities. All the projects within the Wanda Mall will be housed indoors, including an ocean park, a snow entertainment park, a sports park, a water park and a commercial center. Construction of the projects is scheduled to start in 2019 and facilities will open for business in 2021. It is estimated that annual visits will exceed 10 million, directly creating more than 10,000 jobs and bringing in huge tax revenue to Lanzhou.
Mayor Zhang Weiwen said that Lanzhou is one of the most important cities in China’s northwest and is a key city along the Silk Road Economic Belt. Gansu was a major corridor of the ancient "Silk Road"with a rich history and culture. The Lanzhou Wanda City will bring Lanzhou a modern cultural tourism experience, enhancing the city’s image and functions. The projects will also transform and upgrade Lanzhou’s service industry, driving the development of cultural tourism resources in Gansu province, and assisting the Belt and Road Initiative.
Wang Jianlin said that Wanda Group has been optimistic about the prospects of China's cultural tourism industry and will continue to invest in large-scale cultural tourism projects around the country. Wanda will fully utilize its competitive advantages accumulated in the cultural tourism industry, and strive to make Lanzhou Wanda City a new business card for the Belt and Road Initiative, and support the comprehensive development of Lanzhou with concrete actions.
