Nanning Wanda Mall broke ground in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on August 22.
The project will cover 470,000 square meters with a gross floor area of 1.58 million square meters. The 15 billion yuan Nanning Wanda Mall is scheduled to open in 2017.
As an updated version of Wanda Plaza, which focuses on commerce, a Wanda Mall is a large indoor complex that combines entertainment, tourism and commerce under one roof. Being called Wanda’s fourth-generation product, the Wanda Mall will house theme parks, a film technology park, a cinema, a five-star hotel and other facilities. As the Wanda Mall will focus on entertainment business retail will only account for less than 25% of the total floor area.
In 2000, Wanda shifted its business focus from residential real estate to commercial property and cultural tourism. In the past 14 years, its products have evolved from first and second-generation Wanda plazas, to third-generation HOPSCA, and now to its fourth-generation product - Wanda Mall.
Wanda plans to build 3-4 Wanda Malls in major Chinese cities this year and plans to open Wanda Malls in overseas cities in the future.
