Wanda donates 100 million yuan to build school in Guangyuan

On October 15, Wanda Group donated 100 million yuan towards the construction of the Sichuan Normal University (SNU) Guangyuan Wanda Middle School.
SNU, established in 1946, is the oldest teacher's college in Sichuan province as well as the first university in Sichuan to offer undergraduate courses. SNU Guangyuan Wanda Middle School is located in Wanyuan New District, Guangyuan city and has a gross floor area of more than 93,000 square meters. The school will house 24 classes for junior high school, 36 classes for high school and accommodate 3,000 students and 186 staff. To ensure a high quality of education, the school will introduce more than 10 postgraduate and PhD level professors, while its full-time teachers will all have bachelor degrees or above. The school will officially open to the public on September 1, 2015.
According to company sources, Guangyuan is Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin's hometown and has always been close to his heart. He has been thinking of doing something meaningful there for some time. In 2013, he heard that Guangyuan was lacking in educational resources and immediately decided to donate money to build a middle school with a superior faculty and high education level.
Wanda Group has donated more than 3.7 billion yuan to charitable causes in the past 26 years, making it one of China's largest corporate benefactors. Wanda is also a seven-time recipient of the China Charity Award, which is issued annually by the State Ministry of Civil Affairs.
In Sichuan, Wanda Group has successively donated 30 million yuan to build the Mianyang Wanda School and 200 million yuan to build the Chengdu Wanda No.7 Middle School.
