Wang Jianlin leads a record 213 Mainland Chinese on this year’s Forbes Billionaires List

Forbes released its 2015 Billionaires List on March 2, 2015. Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin’s fortune soared to $24.2 billion this year from $15.1 billion a year ago on both advances in his property and entertainment businesses, making him China’s richest and the world’s 29th richest individual overall.
Bill Gates is once again the richest person on the planet, a title he’s held for 16 of the past 21 years. His fortune grew $3.2 billion since last year to $79.2 billion. Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico comes in again at No. 2 while revered American investor Warren Buffett took back the No. 3 spot back. In addition, this year list featured 300 overseas Chinese, increasing from 290 a year ago, while the number of billionaires from the Chinese mainland reached 213, an increase of 28.9% from last year.
Fortunes of Hong Kong magnates Lee Shau Kee and Li Ka Shing, rose to 17th and 27th respectively, with fortunes of $33.3 billion and $24.8 billion respectively, while Wang Jianlin’s fortune of $24.2 billion put him at 29th overall and number one in mainland China.
Wang Jianlin was 64th on last years Forbes Billionaires List and China’s richest person. This year he has risen 35 places to 29th and retains the title of China’s richest person.
