Wanda Cinema celebrates new box office record for 'Jianbing Man'

Jianbing Man, a Wanda Cinema product, has taken more than RMB1 billion at the box office for 18 showing days. It is the first Chinese 2D movie breaking 1 billion in 2015 and the 6th in the entire Chinese movie history.     

With a box office much higher than that of Police Story 2013, a former successful product of Wanda Cinema which brought an income of RMB533 million, Jianbing Man represents Wanda Cinema’s top-grossing movie ever since her foundation.

The file had its world premiere on July 17. Directed by Da Peng and starring quite a few celebrates, Jianbing Man is most commendable and attractive to audience for its strong comedic effect in depicting the great dreams of nonentities.

Statistics shows that in July cinemas on mainland China witnessed a total box office income of RMB5.49 billion, 28% higher than last year’s highest single-month record of RMB3.644 billion; Jianbing Man alone contributed RMB975 million, accounting for 17.76%, making the month the first to break 5billion in Chinese movie history. In April, boosted by The Fast and the Furious 7, the single-month income hit RMB4.1 billion, which was much lower than the RMB5.49 billion powered by Jianbing Man.

The first 100 million was made only 17 hours after opening and another 427million was made at the first weekend. Each of the first three days witnessed an income of more than 100million; especially, on the second showing day, Jianbing Man drove the mainland single-day Box office total to a new high, refreshing the 380 million record powered by The Fast and The Furious in April.   

Jianbing Man is a great success of box office, with the first day bringing about 139 million, the second day over 300 million, the 5th day over 500 million and the 7th day exceeding 700 million. Up till today, Jianbing Man has taken over 1 billion at the box office, making a new record in many aspects, including Chinese 2D Movie Premiere Day and Single Day Box Office Champion, The Fast Chinese 2D Movie to Break 100 million Box Office and The Chinese 2D Movie with The Largest Premiere Day Audience. 

Jianbing Man is the 7th film Wanda Cinema has produced this year and the 8th one released by Wuzhou Release Company. In the first six months of this year, Wanda Cinema earned RMB1.32 billion depending on its first six products, ranking the second among all private Chinese film makers.
