Wanda volunteers warm the winter chill
07.12.2015Wanda Group obliges every employee to serve as a volunteer at least once every year. All subsidiaries across the company have their own volunteer branch, and all employees are volunteers. Wanda volunteers have brought warmth and hope to the needy this freezing winter, through donations, visits, charity auctions and other means.
**On November 20, staff of the Hubei Province Jingzhou project company arrived at Shilipu Primary School to visit children that had been abandoned by their parents, bringing with them 500 books and dozens of sports equipment. Volunteer representatives then went on to Heyan Village to visit poor households and deliver poverty relief funds.
**On November 24, volunteers from Ningde Wanda Cinema delivered winter clothing and daily supplies as well as donations to children and elderly living at the "Tashan Home of Love" in Ningde, a special home that provides shelter for special needs children who have physical or intellectual disabilities. In recent years, it has also taken in many elderly without a family. Currently, this "Home of Love" houses 55 children ranging from infants to ages 34, of which children with cerebral palsy number more than 20. The rest of the children have learning, hearing, visual and other disabilities.
**Between November 5 and 25, Wuhan Wanda Dragone Performing Arts Co., Ltd. launched a volunteer donation drive, collecting more than 1000 pieces of clothing and more than 200 books. The Company chose to carry out a large donation on November 26, Thanksgiving Day. The donation was accepted by the Sunny Charitable Commodity Center, which organized prompt delivery of the supplies to those most in need.
**On November 26, coinciding with the annual Thanksgiving, employees from the Wanda Realm Chifeng Hotel organized its staff to host a "Thanksgiving charity auction". Teachers and children from Chifeng Special Education School were invited. The children brought their artworks to the event, which were sold at a charity auction and all charitable funds raised from the event were donated to the Wanda Children's Foundation.
**On the morning of November 27, staff from Wanda Cinema in Guangyuan city paid a visit to the Guangyuan "Little Turtles" Special Education School, delivering milk and school supplies to these special needs children. Some were autistic while others have learning disabilities. Wanda staff were given a tour of the school by teachers upon arrival to look at the children's normal learning and living environment, as well as to understand the specific needs that require most attention from the children. Finally, staff turned the leaves they collected and picked into materials to complete a meaningful handicraft activity with the children at the special school.
**On November 28, volunteers from Hefei Wanda City Culture and Tourism Management Co., Ltd. drove to Xingling Village, Shuangdun Town of Changfeng County to visit 12 local students of impoverished families with excellent school results. They delivered stationery, as well as rice, cooking oil, school bags, down jackets as well as other supplies that were donated and procured by everyone. The visit this time round involved nine families, of which six were minimum living guarantee rural households; some of the others were single parent families while others were left-behind children.
**On November 29, Anhui Province Liu'an Project Company arrived at Dabie mountainous region key impoverished village, Miaogang Jicun to visit left-behind children of impoverished families in the mountainous region. The Project Company's staff donated school bags, notebooks and other school supplies to the children.
**On November 29, all staff of Nanchang Wanda City's Ocean Park went to Nanchang SOS Children's Village to carry out volunteer activities, delivering love school bags, stationery, basketballs, food and other supplies donated by all the staff of the Ocean Park. They also visited and learned about the learning environment of the children, as well played games and interacted with them. Nanchang SOS Children's Village was officially completed in 1995. There are currently a total of 12 families providing warm homes and education opportunities for children who are homeless, abandoned and disabled, as well as those in extreme poverty.
