Wanda Cinema Line, the operator of Wanda’s 292 cinemas across China, recently announced that it will join US Paramount Pictures Corporation in investing in the 2016 commercial action movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

The movie, which will be produced by Michael Bay, director of the "Transformers" series, and starring Megan Fox, is scheduled for release in North America and around the world from June 3 onward. It is one of the anticipated blockbuster movies for the summer.

This is the first time Wanda Cinema Line has ventured into Hollywood to become a global investor in an imported revenue-sharing movie, and an important step for Wanda Cinema Line's international strategy. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wanda Cinema Line, China Movie Media Group is an important channel for investing in major Hollywood movies for Wanda Cinema Line.

There is important strategic significance to Wanda Cinema Line's investment in a major commercial Hollywood movie. Following Wanda Group's acquisition of US AMC Entertainment and US Legendary Entertainment, the joint investment in a major commercial movie with a famous Hollywood film studio will see Wanda Cinema Line move into the upstream sector of the global film industry. In addition to owning the global revenue-sharing rights of the invested movie's box office, DVD, household video-on-demand, and internet on demand, among others, Wanda Cinema Line may also leverage its entire industrial chain to release quality film content, creating core competitiveness from content production to export.
