Wang Jianlin Wins the Ninth China Charity Award

On September 1st, Wang Jianlin, Chairman of Wanda Group, was awarded as the "Most Loving Individual Donor" at the Ninth China Charity Award Ceremony held in Nantong, Jiangsu. This was his fourth time winning the China Charity Award.
The China Charity Award is the highest government prize in the field of Chinese philanthropy. The award has been issued 9 times since it started in 2005, with Wanda Group and Wang Jianlin winning the award eight times. Wanda is the only enterprise in China to have won the China Charity Award so many times.
The Ninth China Charity Award, previously issued once a year, is now issued once every two years. At the same time, the number of winners has reduced from 100 to no more than 50, the prize has become more valuable, and judging is stricter. The award won by Wang Jianlin once again demonstrates that Wanda Group is at the forefront of Chinese philanthropy.
Over the 28 years that Wanda Group has been established under the leadership of Wang Jianlin, the company has donated a total of more than 5 billion yuan to charitable causes, making it one of the country's largest private donors.
Wanda Group not only continues with generous donations, but it has also launched an innovative and targeted poverty alleviation model in Danzhai. Wanda Group has invested 1.4 billion yuan in alleviating poverty in Danzhai, including an investment of 300 million yuan to build a Vocational and Technical Institute, which will eliminate poverty and lay a foundation for talented individuals. An investment of 600 million yuan has been set to build a tourist town, which will drive development in Danzhai and create a large number of jobs. An investment of 500 million yuan has been set to establish a Special Poverty Alleviation Fund for Danzhai, the revenue of which will be distributed freely to 10,000 people of special poverty groups, such as orphans, handicapped, or those suffering from serious illnesses, and who are unable to benefit from poverty-alleviating industries. Wanda's poverty alleviation efforts in Danzhai cover industry, education, and charity funds, with short, medium and long-term considerations, and offer remedies targeting specific issues. After all programmes have commenced operation in 2017, the overall economy of Danzhai will experience significant changes, sustainable development will be achieved, and the population will be permanently rid of poverty.
Since 2013, Wanda Group has carried out a large number of generous donations, including two 10 million yuan donations to quake-hit areas of Ya'an in Sichuan and Ludian in Yunnan, as well as a 5 million yuan donation to quake-hit areas of Tibet. A donation of 100 million yuan was made towards building the best middle school in Guangyuan, Sichuan. Wanda also donates 10 million yuan to underprivileged citizens in Dalian every Spring Festival, and has donated 20 million yuan to the Ai You Foundation to help children suffering from serious illnesses. A total of 600 million yuan has been invested by Wanda Group in support of the development of football in China, in which "China's Future Football Stars" are sent to Spain to train. 150 outstanding young footballers have been selected to study abroad, with an aim of cultivating future Chinese football talent.
