The IRONKIDS Wanda Plaza series kicks off in Tianjin

The 2016 IRONKIDS Wanda Plaza series was officially launched in Tianjin Hedong Wanda Plaza on September 17.

This event, jointly hosted by Wanda Sports Co., Ltd. and Wanda Commercial Management Co., Ltd., attracted the participation of a large number of families. More than 600 children completed the race and received the title of IRONKIDS.

Following Tianjin, where the first leg of the race was held, IRONKIDS will make its debut in 23 other Wanda Plazas across China during the October 1 golden week.

In 2015, Wanda Group acquired 100% of World Triathlon Corporation for USD650 million and introduced the IRONMAN triathlon to China. Its renowned race for youths and children - IRONKIDS - will also arrive in China in 2016. IRONKIDS was first held in 2004 in the US, and aims to build a positive, healthy and energetic lifestyle for youths and children, while allowing them to experience the spirit and attraction of IRONMAN. It has widespread influence internationally and is held in dozens of countries worldwide.

The current "IRONKIDS 2016 China - Tianjin" was created strictly according to international standards. The race track was built completely according to the IRONMAN standards, and the race event custom made by IRONKIDS for the Tianjin leg. The race procedures rigorously adhered to international race standards, and the referees, staff up to security were all assumed by the best professionals in the country.

Each child who crossed the finish line was presented with a medal by the hosts of the race. The IRONKIDS' slogan is "Every finisher is a winner". For children, being able to take part in and experience an international race right at their doorstep and to receive an internationally recognized medal is a rare opportunity. This may well be the first medal they have ever won in their life.
