Speech delivered by Sun Zhigang, Governor of Guizhou Province

Honorable Auditor General Hu Zejun, Deputy Director Qingping, distinguished Chairman Wang, officials, guests and friends,

Today we are here celebrating the grand opening of Danzhai Wanda Village and Guizhou Wanda Vocational College. Entrusted by   Party Secretary Chen Min’er, on behalf of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Government, I would like to give a very warm welcome to Auditor General Hu Zejun and Deputy Director Qingping, to express my gratitude to Chairman Wang, and to congratulate Danzhai Wanda Village and Guizhou Wanda Vocational College on the opening!

Wanda Group actively responds to President Xi’s appeal of alleviating poverty with the whole of society’s endeavor. In the crucial period of poverty reduction and prosperity construction in Guizhou, Wanda Group has designed a new path integrating education, industry and fund, aiming at a long, medium and short-term agenda, and created the innovative “one enterprise responsible for an entire county’s poverty alleviation” model, as well as a target poverty alleviation partnership with Danzhai. Wanda’s Danzhai poverty alleviation project has established a model that will greatly motivate the mass participation in poverty alleviation, further accumulating the experience for nation-wide private enterprises’ involvement and building a sustainable model which can be used again in the future.

During the National Poverty Alleviation Award Ceremony in October 2016, Chairman Wang Jianlin received the well-deserved National Poverty Alleviation Innovation Award. Residents of Guizhou will keep their gratitude to Chairman Wang Jianlin and Wanda Group deep inside their hearts at all times.

The National Audit Office and State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development have been granting poverty alleviation in Guizhou tremendous support and assistance. With the National Audit Office’s care, Danzhai became the first experimental county in China that systematically utilises special public finance fund for poverty alleviation. With assistance from the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, Wanda Group initiated the nation’s trend in private enterprises being responsible for an entire county. Today, Auditor General Zejun and Deputy Director Qingping are here with us witnessing the opening ceremony, demonstrating their dedicated care to poverty-stricken groups in Guizhou, and greatly encouraging officials and people fighting poverty in the province.
   
Chairman Wang and Wanda Group have shown bold innovation, responsibility and dedication demonstrated in the target poverty alleviation partnership. Provincial departments, Southeast Guizhou State and Danzhai County, in particular, shall complete post-project work with significant care and effort, to ensure the Village remains as a vital platform that triggers inner motivation within poverty-stricken areas and transform Guizhou Wanda Vocational College into a practical base where education eradicates roots of poverty. We shall put the project aimed at people’s welfare into real practice.

We will firmly implement the Central Party Committee’s decision and agenda. With assistance from the National Audit Office and State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, and with Wanda Group’s generous help, overcoming difficulties and pushing forward, we will accelerate Danzhai and Guizhou’s poverty alleviation progress, to ensure regional development is in line with the state’s plans and vision.
