Jong May: Meet the “Chinese American” Mayor

JongMay is an American born in China, and was the mayor of our Danzhai Wanda Village last week. True to her name, which translates as “Chinese American”, JongMay impressed the Danzhai locals with her fluent Mandarin skills as well as her deep love of Chinese culture. As mayor, JongMay took part in cultural traditions, including wearing Miao costumes and greeting guests with the traditional rice wine from a bull horn. She reflected on her experience: "I enjoyed the experience of immersing myself in the unique Miao culture while promoting cultural exchange with the locals. I feel like I am now a lot closer to the heart of China and its culture after this mayorship. Truly unforgettable!”
