Songxiayangzong: Kongfu Comes to Danzhai

Danzhai’s most recent mayor SongXia YangZong is a leading kung fu practitioner in China. She took the opportunity as mayor to teach some of the local school children her unique style of martial art. Songxia is also a member of both the Ngawa Tibetan and Zhang minority groups, originating from Sichuan province. SongXia brought along her own traditional dress to Danzhai in celebration of China’s ethnic and cultural diversity. Here you can see her dressed in the pink tunic with the distinctively different collar.
