Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin addresses the signing ceremony.On November 30, Wanda Group signed off a 50 billion RMB deal with the city of Haikou, where the real estate giant will build a new Wanda City. Many innovative features will be introduced to the Haikou Wanda City, where the new structure will be integrated into its scenic surroundings. Part of the theme park which is on land will be extended to the beach, creating a dynamic flow. To date, this is the 16th Wanda City credit to Wanda Group.
Secretary of Hainan Provincial Party Committee, Luo Baoming, Hainan Provincial Standing Committee Member and Executive Deputy Governor, Mao Chaofeng, Hainan Provincial Standing Committee Member and Haikou Municipal Party Committee Secretary, Zhang Qi, Hainan Provincial Standing Committee Member and Secretary-General, Hu Guanghui, Wanda Group Chairman, Wang Jianlin, and Wanda Cultural Group President, Zhang Lin, all attended the signing ceremony.
Situated in Guilinyang beach area in Meilan district, Haikou Wanda City will be just 15 km from the airport and 5km from the local high-speed railway station. It will also be a destination on the first planned metro line to connect major transportation hubs. The 3,700 mu (610 acre) project will be the only seaside Wanda City, featuring indoor and outdoor theme parks, staged shows, international conferences, seaside and lakeside towns, a bar street and an ecological park.
Four major features are planned for Haikou Wanda City: 1. Innovative planning and design. With all entertainment features designed together, the centralized layout provides a shorter travel time for tourists, so tourists can experience more entertainment features in a shorter time frame. 2. Lake and ocean views. Situated around Daomeng River dam, the project connects the man-made lake with the ocean. While keeping the lake away from the tide, tourists may enjoy both ocean and lake scenes. 3. Local Hainan culture. The 10-km Haikou Guilinyang beach has clear waters and white sand, making it one of the best natural bathing places in China. The Haikou Wanda mega theme park is wholly customized to the local surroundings, while the outdoor park extends to the beach, introducing various beach entertainment features. In addition, there is also a unique, large-scale seaside show. Based on the legends of Zheng He's treasure fleet and the Silk Road on the Sea, the show integrates boat parades, stunts, blasting effects, and underwater machinery to create a stunning audiovisual effect. 4. First sea-lakeside town introduced to Wanda City. The town will be built along the lake as well as the sea, and the 50,000 square meter facility will feature food, leisure, entertainment and bars.
The construction of the Haikou Wanda City project will start during the first half of 2017 and it will be open for business by 2020. It is estimated that the new facility will welcome more than 10 million tourists annually.
