06.01.2021

In 2020, Wanda Group opened 45 Wanda Plazas, 74 Wanda Cinemas and 14 Wanda hotels, creating more than 154,000 service jobs, of which 78,000 were taken by college graduates. The new jobs Wanda created accounts for 1.3% of China’s new urban jobs added in 2020. For several consecutive years, Wanda has been contributing to more than 1% of the total new jobs created in China.

Stability in the job market has been one of the top priorities of the Chinese government. In 2020,Covid-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented pressure on the job market. Wanda Group actively responds to the call of the CPC Central Committee and takes job stability and job security as its biggest corporate social responsibility. Despite the severe impact brought on by covid-19, Wanda was steadfast in achieving its annual target of opening 45 new Wanda Plazas because it believed ensuring all planned Wanda Plazas open on schedule is the best guarantee for job creation.

Wanda Plaza is in modern service industry; it is also a generator of labor-intensive jobs. With a great variety of positions, Wanda Plazas are so inclusive that they offer jobs to job-seekers of different age groups and education backgrounds. In the past, college graduates accounted for about 40% of the employment at Wanda Plazas. In view of the large number of new college graduates in 2020 and the greater employment pressure posed by the pandemic, Wanda Group required its subsidiaries to step up recruitment of college graduates, so as to ensure that about 50% of the new jobs in Wanda Plazas this year would be filled by college graduates.

By the end of 2020, the 368 Wanda Plazas in operation across China have created more than 1.5 million jobs, including 691,000 taken by college graduates. Wanda has become an important reservoir and stabilizer for employment in China’s service sector.
