Wanda Group donated 3 million yuan to poor residents in Dalian’s urban areas
16.01.2009Wanda Group showed its care about poor people again a few days before the advent of the Chinese New Year. On the afternoon of January 12, a donation ceremony was held in Dalian, at which Wanda Group made a donation to the poor people in the city’s urban areas. At the ceremony, Wanda Group President Ding Benxi presented a 3-million-yuan check to Lin Qingmin, president of the Dalian Charity Federation.
President Ding Benxi made a 3 million yuan cash donation to the Dalian Charity Federation on behalf of Wanda Group
Dalian Mayor Xia Deren spoke highly of Wanda Group’s charitable and leading roles. He said that over the past 20 years or so, Wanda Group has also emphasized charity causes and become one of the private enterprises that have made the greatest donations to China’s charity causes. This time again, Wanda Group donated 3 million yuan for issuing shopping cards to the families entitled to minimum living allowance. This move would not only help these poor families to solve their practical difficulties during the Chinese New Year season but also demonstrate the great love and strong sense of responsibility of a large private enterprise.
On December 5 last year, Wanda Group won, for the third time running, the China Charity Award, the highest honor of China’s charity cause sponsored by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. As a result, Wanda Group became the only one of China’s 8 million enterprises to win this award three times. On December 26, 2008, the China Charity Federation also engaged Wang Jianlin as its honorary president, the first ever for an entrepreneur. In the past two decades, Wanda Group has always adhered to its mission of “jointly creating wealth and being charitable to society” and made donations totaling 1.2 billion yuan. In the Wenchuan earthquake rescue operation last year, Wanda donated 105 million yuan, thus winning high praises from the party and government leaders and setting an example for the private enterprises across the country.
In recent years, it has become a customs for Wanda Group to make donations to the poor people in the city of Dalian before the advent of the Chinese New Year. It is understood that the 3-million-yuan donation made by Wanda this time will be used to help 30,000 urban poor families entitled to the minimum living allowance.
